Time 2 Vote: European Elections 2019

With the rise of political protests and students campaigning for change nowadays, it may have become assumed that the majority of young people are registered to vote.

However, the fact that only 64% of young people voted at the 2017 general election is still concerning. Yes, it was a great statistic in the fact that it is the highest it has been since 1992, but is this good enough?

With the collapsing of the Tory Government and the absolute disaster that is Brexit, young people should still be doing a hell of a lot more in terms of politics.

The local elections in England have proved disastrous for Prime Minister Theresa May as the Conservatives lost over 1000 seats. There have been calls for her to quit, but if the people know May by now, it is known that she won’t give up without a long and tedious fight.

That is why young people need to take a stance and strengthen their political stances; and in a sense, prepare for battle. Paint your signs, register online and go vote!

Technology has advanced in such a way that you don’t even need to leave the house to vote these days; you get a little letter through the door and you tick the boxes relevant to your thoughts and opinions. Boom, it’s done.

It takes little over 2 minutes to register yourself to vote, and it could be the deciding vote in a better, brighter future for this generation.

After all, it is us this world is given to, to look after, we may as well do our best.
