Twin Atlantic : Scotland’s Kids of Indie Rock are back

There was a feeling of nervous anticipation in the air at King Tuts, as Twin Atlantic were set to make their return to the famous Glasgow stage, for the release of their long-awaited fifth studio album POWER.

And, they surely didn’t disappoint, the crowd almost taking the roof off of the place as the band took to the stage.

80’s vibing tune ‘Oh! Euphoria!’ was the opening tune and lead singer Sam McTrusty strutted about the stage with the confidence of frontmen like Brandon Flowers of The Killers and Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys.

As much as the venue is very obviously intimate, the band were special in their interaction with the crowd, as I personally felt like I could’ve been the only fan in the room during the gig.

Snappy single ‘Barcelona’ was a stand-out song for me, it being one of the only songs on the new album with hints of the bands older sound.

And of course, no Twin Atlantic gig would be complete without a flick of the generator, the crowd going wild as the drums and guitar linked up to create the all familiar sound of ‘Heart and Soul’. Sam’s thick Glaswegian accent proves to be infamous in this song, with many a music fan knowing exactly who is singing by the twang of his voice.

All in all, it was an explosive comeback for the Scottish indie rock band and it will be interesting to see how this new album proves fruitful for them in the music industry.

Twin Atlantic’s new album ‘POWER’ was released on January 24thand tickets are still available for their UK tour in March.
