The Weeknd – Beauty Behind the Madness: Review

Beauty Behind The Madness was released on August 28 and is the second album written by The Weeknd.

It was produced by a number of artists including Illangelo, Mike Dean, Danny Boy Styles, and Max Martin.

‘Dark Times’ features the incredibly talented Brit Ed Sheeran and is without a doubt the best track on the album. Their accents combined make for an interesting listen full of suspense, dramatic lyrics and intense guitar riffs that create a Western element.

Powerful Academy Award nominated ‘Earned It features on the album and also features on the soundtrack to the hugely successful Fifty Shades of Grey film. The song was released at the end of 2014 and the film was released the day before Valentines Day in 2015. Fans of the film dragged their boyfriends to see it the next day.

Aquainted tells the struggle of being in a new intimate relationship with the fear of falling in love. It’s cute and angelic yet still creates a sense of realism.

“To say that we’re in love is dangerous, but girl I’m so glad we’re acquainted”

Lana Del Ray features on a song called ‘Prisoners.’ It’s a different, darker, and sensual approach for her, but it does work well.

‘In The Night’ sounds similar to ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ with a dance beat that you can picture being played in a nightclub.

While ‘Often’ uses explicit, honest, slightly uncomfortable lyrics that changes the atmosphere of the album.

‘Losers’ features Labrinth and has his distinctive style from the first few notes. Its dark and intriguing lyrics leave you wanting to have another listen to the full abum
