The King Tut’s Stage Delivers on Day 2 of Trnsmt

After spending two days sitting and relaxing in the sun it was inevitable that everyone was suffering from sunburn and they all had incredibly weird burn lines because of the elaborate outfits they are coming to the festival in.

TRNSMT day 2, you were yet another success especially due to the performances put on not only on the main stage, but also the King Tut’s stage.

Highlights include performances from Sundara Karma and Sigrid who were both lively and high energy, really getting the crowd warmed up for the main act of the night Catfish and the Bottleman.

The King Tuts stage saw some great performances from the likes of Jade Bird and Cavetown. Both put on a very different but equally enjoyable shows. Cavetown, real name Robin Skinner is hard to describe as anything more than cute. His opening song ‘Boys will be bugs’ sets the tone for the rest of his performance. Skinner’s songs are just really nice, and they are hard not to enjoy, he’s very likeable through just watching him perform. Especially as he stood on stage in only his socks. If you’re looking for someone to listen to that is just general easy listening and pretty relaxing, then Cavetown is great for that.  Jade Bird on the other hand is firey and in your face and is just a generally good performer who knows how to play the crowd well.

However, the performance of the night has to go to indie-rock band Bastille, lead singer Dan Smith put on an amazing show and you could really see how much the rest of the band were enjoying themselves. Smith is so high energy and charismatic that it’s easy to just dance along to any of the band’s songs, whether the crowd knew them or not. At one point the frontman even came down to the bottom of the stage and went into the crowd (how brave!) which the technicians didn’t seem very happy about. There was an instant connection between Smith and the audience, and an almost mutual understanding. Smith was here to put a performance on, and the audience was there to enjoy it.

The general vibe from TRNSMT was a lot better on the second day. It was evident the crowd was a little bit older than it had been the day before, people seemed more respectful of each other and there was just a general better vibe throughout the whole festival.

TRNSMT felt more like it had in previous years, an indie festival for people to drink, enjoy music and have a good time at.

All in all, TRNSMT day two was a success. Bring on day three.
