Sams Night : What You Need to Know

Following the unfortunate death of his younger brother Sam, Liam Hannah decided he wanted to do something to remember him. He pondered over the idea of dedicating an episode of his podcast, Get Oan Wae It, to him but he admitted that this simply did not feel like enough.

Instead, he has brought together a group of musicians to create the perfect line-up for Sams Night, an online music stream in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust in his brother’s name.

Sam passed on 15th July of this year, a date the family say will always be the darkest day of their lives, after a short but brave fight with leukaemia. Liam described him as a bright cheery person who was always a pleasure to be around, so it is clear to see why they should plan something to remember his legacy, and continue the fight to raise money to beat cancer.

Sams night will be a virtual show, streamed via Liam’s YouTube channel accessible by a link. The stream will begin at 5 pm on October 9th and boasts an impressive line-up including Lewis Capaldi, The Snuts, Voodoos, Retro Video Club and many more talented groups and artists. Each will pay a small set of their own music while also honouring Sam’s legacy by covering a few of his most loved songs.

As the event is not ticketed, all they ask is for a donation to be made towards the Teenage Cancer Trust in Sam’s memory. You can donate here at the Just Giving page and during the event, the link will be available via all the Just Get Oan Wae It podcasts social media accounts. They have already raised over £2000 for the cause.

I asked Liam how he felt about the upcoming event and he said:

“Yeah man, I’m buzzing for it. It makes it all that more special that it’s close to my heart and also puts out Sam’s name to the people who may have not met him. It also means a great deal to me that we’re doing it for Teenage Cancer Trust who were unbelievable throughout the last year.

“People keep asking if I’m nervous at all, but honestly, I’m just excited. We’ve got so much talent involved so should be a great night for people to grab a drink and sit down with their friends and family and hopefully raise a nice bit of money for a great charity.”

All support and views of the show would be much appreciated by Liam and all the artists involved. If this interests you, mark out 5 pm on Friday in your planner, grab a bevvy and most of all have a good time in Sam’s memory.
