‘Olly Olly Olly’ Troublemaker Murs Lights Up Glasgow

Olly Murs returned to Glasgow for the first time since 2016 at a packed Hydro Arena on his latest UK arena tour.

Fresh from the release of his sixth album, You Know I Know, at the back end of last year, Olly wowed the fans and gave them a night to most certainly remember.

Beginning his set amongst the crowd, the 34 year old started with Moves from his newest album which featured a mash up with Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You as the Hydro Arena showed it was ready for a big night ahead. X Factor winners from 2017, Rak Su, had already warmed the Hydro crowd up with their energic set along with dance moves most people watching could only dream of being able to pull off.

Songs from his new album naturally took centre stage with songs like Feel the Same and Maria featuring early on as well as some of his biggest hits from the past few years including Kiss Me and You Don’t Know Love. What he did next is something you have to give him huge credit for. Mental health as we all know is a topic that is getting a lot more attention in recent years and Olly used his song Talking To Yourself to shine the light on mental health.

This year is the tenth anniversary of Olly’s big break on the X Factor and after a throwback video, he returned to the stage with a rendition of his audition song from his X Factor journey, Superstition by Stevie Wonder. Anecdotes from his ten years in the business followed along with snippets of some of his favourite songs along with the story of how he became bigger in China than Drake thanks to a young boy’s cover of That Girl.

Following this, Olly brought out his biggest hits to bring the crowd to its feet, including Heart Skips A Beat, the heart felt Dear Darlin’, which saw the Hydro lit up with the torch lights from the majority of people’s phones, and Troublemaker. Finishing off with Dance With Me Tonight, the cheeky chap from Essex ensures fans left the Hydro dancing into the Glasgow night.
