Beauty hacks for the money saving student

It’s getting to that time of year again when you just have to start saving for holidays and the end of year balls but you also want all the new season clothes that you just can’t live without (surely it can’t only be me?).

Here poses the problem of wanting to look and feel fabulous whilst saving yourself some extra cash. Well I’m here to help you fulfil all your wants and desires through a few beauty hacks which in the long term will be saving you some money!

My saving grace! Coconut Oil is a product that I stumbled across one day when I was pages deep in Pinterest beauty hacks. Much to my surprise I found that there were loads of uses for just this one product that has been around for years.

You can use it as an intense or plain hair conditioner. You can use it as a substitute for your usual shaving foam – a little goes a long way and it leaves your legs silky smooth – what else do you want? If you want to grow out your eyebrows as you made the mistake of over plucking, putting a little coconut oil on your eyebrows before you go to sleep every night for about a month will have people turning heads when you walk past with your brows on fleek.

Another place to put coconut oil before you get your well-deserved beauty sleep is on any pesky spots. Coconut oil has anti-bacterial properties so it will fight those irritating face blemishes that you just can’t seem to get rid of.

Much to my disbelief coconut oil is also amazing at removing stubborn eye make-up and is cruelty free! So, you’re saving yourself money as well as being kind to your skin!

You can purchase a litre jar of coconut oil on Amazon for a small price of £9.99 and the jar should last you for months!

YouTube and Pinterest

Another tip I have is to introduce you to YouTube and Pinterest. You can learn so many things from spending a little time researching what uses certain products have or the best product for your skin type – it saves you wasting money on something which turns out to be absolutely no use to you at all.

There are various articles and posts about multi-uses for products and products best suited to your needs.

Youtubers make a career out of recommending and trying out products so if you watch them you will be able to get a first-hand account of what products are like as you will be watching real life people give their opinions on certain products, therefore you will be saving yourself money and making yourself that more of an expert about make-up products and the best and worst things to use.

Make-Up Dupes

The best advice for trying to save money whilst still treating yourself to some new make-up is to look for dupes; there is a cheaper alternative to your favourite high-end product out there I promise.

You have to do a little researching but in the end, it will be worth your time as you will be saving yourself money whilst still having the potential to play with new amazing products.
If you have never tried high street drugstore brands like Freedom, Make-Up Revolution or MUA then I suggest that you give them a go as their products do not break the bank and I find them to be just as good as some high-end products out there.

I suggest you spend a little time looking at our make-up dupes bible. It has all the make-up dupes that anyone could ever need – I personally regard it as a bible that any girl should take advice from and they will not regret it!

So, all in all, if you want to still have amazing skin and treat yourself to some new make-up without breaking the bank my advice to you is this:

  • Use coconut oil – it literally works on anything
  • Get watching YouTube and looking at things on Pinterest- it will be beneficial I swear to you
  • Saving the best to last – use make-up dupes – because who doesn’t love an amazing bargain?!
