Independents Now! – Ziggurat

Ziggurat is a first-person, wizard shooter that also happens to be have rogue-lite and RPG elements. After reading that, is it even possible to not want a shot of this game?

Basically, you run about dungeon levels killing enemies and collecting new abilities. Like pretty much every other godforsaken rogue-lite in existence. Regardless, Ziggurat manages to feel like a fresh breeze in a crowded room after Taco Tuesdays.

Old school shooter fans should rejoice as circle strafing is invaluable again, as you dodge the various magic thrown at you. It’s also never too difficult, giving a more sedate pace to proceedings.

Lots of little things add up to make Ziggurat worth your time. Bonus rooms that pixilate the enemies making it feel even more like Doom or having to fight giant man-eating carrots while blinded by foul arcana, just elevate it above the competition.
