“Everyone has the means to have taken these images” was the mantra of the Residual Recognition showcase at Panther Milk Bar.

In our age of portable dominance a new species of street photographers have emerged armed with their multi-purpose device, the mobile phone. Sobhan Sheikh, a member of this new wave has created an exhibition of photos reviewing the intersection between awareness and acknowledgement using only her iPhone.

By using her trusty mobile, Sobhan has captured a story of her daily journey through the city of Glasgow. The images are spontaneous and are not captured for the purpose of creating hidden meaning but more as an instantaneous recognition of residual scenes of Glasgow.

The exhibition has over 15 images which utilises a multitude of location and a play on different scales to be both appealing to the viewer and showing the effort Sobhan has put into this collection of street photography.

A personal favourite of mine would have to be the image of buses that are parked to create a mirror image with the ones on the other side.

The exhibition is located in the Panther Milk Bar inside Tabac on Mitchell Lane. It is free to enter and opens from 9pm till midnight on Fridays and Saturday. If you’re looking to observe this new breed of street photography, this may be a good place to start.
