B*ll*cks to Blue Monday!

Quite literally a rave like no other, Bongo’s Bingo put on one hell of a show to say B*ll*cks to Blue Monday and that we did! The atmosphere was wild and there wasn’t a single second of the night where someone wasn’t dancing on a bench.

The two entertainers onstage had never-ending energy along with the host who flung in regular inside jokes for all the weegies attending.

Memes, edited pictures and videos were used on a large screen behind the host, a hilarious visual element to the shenanigans onstage.

Every table had several coasters for drinks that had words relating to mental health and their definitions. While you’re having a drink and looking for somewhere to sit it down, first have a wee look at these words and learn something important.

There were also posters placed all round the venue; at the bar, in the toilets around the hall itself, with numbers and website links for CALM and where people can seek help or get help for someone they know.

There was a very clear relationship between Bongo’s Bingo and CALM, it was refreshing to have the host and the set up of the event be a reminder every so often to always look out for yourself and your friends and family, the main purpose of this night was most definitely not the bingo.

The venue was very well laid out, there were never excessive queues for the toilets or the bar. Even in breaks when the bar picked up service was super quick so we were never waiting any length of time.

There is also no danger of anyone missing any numbers being called out as they are displayed on the screen at the back of the stage in humungous letters as the host calls them out.

The one grumble I could find was that there was no cloakroom and the floor can get quite messy with spilt drinks so I found myself constantly checking if my jacket was still on the bench and not the floor. A very small and almost irrelevant grumble given the entire success of the night, but the only one I could find!

The use of audience interaction was phenomenal, majority of it wasn’t even explained by the host it was well known tunes or phrases that the audience joined in with unprompted, it gave the night a much more personal feel.

If you haven’t been to Bongo’s Bingo before you need to get online and buy yourself a ticket you won’t get a night out as good as this anywhere else!
