Follow your dreams with a Magnusson Award at GCU

Have you ever had something in the back of your head that you’ve always wanted to do, but had something holding you back? Perhaps it was too expensive, perhaps you didn’t have the resources, or maybe you just didn’t think it was possible.

GCU’s Magnusson Awards were created for that very reason.

The Magnusson Fund offers awards of up to £5,000 for you to go and do, well, anything!

Students in the past have gone far and wide to participate in a huge range of activities; like making a wildlife documentary in Africa,  recording their debut album, volunteering on a women’s empowerment project in India, being part of the press team at the 2012 London Olympics, opening their own accessory design business and so much more.

The awards are funded by donors including Sir Alex Ferguson and Santander, and encourage students to do something extraordinary.

Last year, James Halliday volunteered in Malawi, providing energy to the local community, a project which changed his life.

How to apply

If you’ve got big ambitions and want to step out of your comfort zone to learn, explore, help, create, or do something completely different, the Magnusson Awards are open to GCU students in their second year upwards, and applications are open until Tuesday 20th February 2018 at 5pm.
