What We Know About the Nintendo NX

With less than five months until its release, we still know rather little about Nintendo’s NX. However, through various patents and reliable leaks, we can get a vague idea of what Nintendo’s new system is going to be like.

A while back, EuroGamer reported that the NX is a home/handheld console hybrid that you connect to your TV and play at home, but can also take on the go. They explained that the NX has a screen which you use as a handheld, but when you dock it at home and plug it into the TV, controllers detach from either side of the system. Although this hasn’t been confirmed as true, we are very safe to assume that the NX is both a handheld and home device.

Another source hinted that the system would use cartridges, not disks. Now, don’t be thinking these will be like inch thick Nintendo 64 cartridges. The cartridges will be similar to those that the DS and 3DS uses: small, compact and easy to carry around.

This is only a small fraction of what has been churning around the ol’ rumour mill. Whilst I trust that Nintendo has it under control, the clock is ticking and it will be March 2017 before we know it. If you wake up disappointed every morning because there’s still no news, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
