‘There She Is’

Review Score – 4 stars

Category – Theatre (physical theatre, comedy)

‘There She Is’ is a piece of physical one-woman theatre brought to life by the energetic and multi-talented Gabriela Flarys. This show was an absolute delight to watch because it was quite simply like nothing I have ever seen before and from start to finish I was fully invested in the tale being told through singing, spoken word and expressive dance.

The premise of the show is fantastically ridiculous, that of a whale causing transport disruption to the London Underground and how said disruption leads to the show’s sole protagonist struggling to progress with her journey both physically and metaphorically.

The show’s themes are rooted in one’s feeling of identity, communication issues and at times comedic frustration as Flarys energetically and at times frantically brings to life various characters and scenarios to enlighten the audience to her plight.

Gabriela brings such a range of performance both vocally and physically to the role, that what on paper reads as quite a complex premise and show to pull off, she does so with ease. A truly exceptional talent.

This show is on until the end of Fringe, if you like your theatre to have insightful, entertaining, political and cultural overtones then this is a must!
