‘Age Fright – 35 and Counting’

Review Score – 4 stars

Category – Comedy

Jaleelah Galbraith who is the sole performer of this fantastic show is hilarious as she is entertaining. The show is about how Jal is accepting growing into her 30’s, even though she professes to feeling the same as she did at 18. She looks back at her favourite decade, mines as well in all honesty, the 90’s. The 50 minutes is full of 90’s references and an interactive chat with the audience heavy on the pop culture of the time.

The show also has various heartfelt moments, which she navigates with skill and humour without detracting from the levity of the subjects discussed. It’s an upbeat show with a strong female led narrative which I howled with laughter at on numerous occasions. Age Fright – 35 and counting hit home to me as I suppose I am its target audience as a child of the 90’s, though to be honest anyone who has even a passing knowledge of the 90’s or has experienced teen angst could relate.

Jal’s show has the right mix of nostalgia and punchlines to keep any audience happy and if you like your comedy upbeat and cheerful, then this show is perfect for you.
